The patio chairs and tables are flying outside again. But what should you take into account when designing your terrace? Do you choose high or low patio tables? For an aluminum or steel frame? And what about the right decor table top? With these tips & tricks, your patio will be completely ready for the new patio season.
TIP 1: Choose the right material
Things can sometimes go wrong here. You see a beautiful table made of steel, but after one rain shower it looks as if your new patio furniture has just survived a natural disaster.
Our tips:
- Aluminum and polypropylene are the outdoor furniture par excellence! It can withstand different weather conditions and will not rust.
- Go for UV-resistant products and avoid discoloration in the summer.*
- Go for water, dirt and UV resistant cushions. Panic when the raindrops start to fall is a thing of the past.
*UV-resistant furniture can also discolour after long and intensive use.
TIP 2: Work with heights, lows and special corners
You want to maintain an overview of your terrace at all times and create an atmosphere. This is possible thanks to the height differences. The use of different styles also creates a wonderful summery and pleasant atmosphere.
Choose easy-to-use, comfortable chairs and tables to easily transform your patio into a sultry holiday destination. Provide nice corners with lots of cushions that you can decorate with a striking and cozy collection. For example, create a special Bohemian atmosphere with a Rattan collection.
TIP: Not only your terrace is important, a nicely decorated veranda is also a plus in the summer.

TIP 3: Choose the right table top
An untreated wooden table top can be beautiful, but if it is left outside intensively it will absorb water. This causes the wood to rot or warp from the inside.
Our tips:
- Go for an HPL table top (high pressure laminate).
- Stay away from black decor! You can quickly see dirt and scratches here. On the other hand, use special decors.
- Rust decor is the new black. For example, go for an HPL rust or HPL Italian stone table top. No scratches, no dirt, no stress...and pleasant to touch.
TIP 4: Think about maintenance
Choose maintenance-friendly material. PP and PE chairs and tables (polypropylene or polyethylene) are very easy to maintain. No sweating, scrubbing or sighing. Aluminum is also a maintenance-friendly material. Go over the frame with a soft brush or cloth and some lukewarm water, then dry and you're done!
TIP 5: Consider storage and/or clean-up
Is your patio outside all winter? Then you can skip this tip. Do you store your patio furniture in the winter? Please take this into account when making your choice.
- Go for stackable, foldable or nestable furniture. This way, the entire patio set will certainly fit in your storage!
- Go for a light, ergonomic option, your back will thank you. Make sure that your patio tables and patio chairs are not too light. You want them to stay put during a summer breeze.

EXTRA TIP: Buy local and request samples
Dare to request samples, only then can you be sure whether your new patio furniture is really something for you. You can test the products before purchasing them and your customers can already give feedback about them. Requesting samples only has advantages for you.
We also recommend that you buy your new patio furniture locally. It is not only good for the planet, but you can also expect fast and good service. Now you just have to decide how many people you want to receive on your terrace to increase your turnover.
